Marine Simulators System

 Welcome,
Marine simulators are an integral part of Integrated Simulators Complex (ISC) of Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST&MT). Marine simulators represent critical elements for the preventing marine disasters and pollution equipped with sophisticated facilities of high capabilities which are able to simulate numerous realistic situation and conditions sufficient for a wide variety of effective training and covering several applications and courses in a wide range of Maritime Education and Training for:

- Masters and deck officers
- Barbour pilots
- Tug master
- VTS operators and manager
- Search and rescue offices (others…)

Marine Simulator Centers (MSC) is considered – by all standards – the most sophisticated and up to date simulation center in the world at large.  It has been designed and installed by one of the leading USA companies in this field, namely “L3”.

The Marine Simulators system comprises:-

1.Full Mission Ship Handling Simulator

..................ll

It provided full mission real-time computer-based simulation facility capable of supporting advanced training in navigation, seamanship, maneuvering and the operation of vessels under normal and potentially hazardous conditions.
The system provided training in more than 70 different types of ships and is capable of building any new type needed for special training.  It offers advanced Ship Dynamic Models (SDM) that include:-

  • Three or six degree of freedom hydrodynamics.
  • Real-time, accurate response to ship controls (engine, rudder, and thrusters).
  • Special environmental effects on own-ship motion such as wind, current and sea state.
  • Accurate interaction with piers, mooring lines, anchors and tugs.

The system provides realistic images with 360-degree field of view, full mission bridge equipment, navigation suite and provides ship movement in three axes with utilizing six degrees of freedom hydrodynamic and visual motion.

2.Integrated Bridge System (IBS)

RADAR & ECDIS ON IBS............cvc

Integrated Bridge System (IBS) is comply with IMO resolution MSC.64(67), annex 1, of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and other relevant IMO performance standards, in order to meet the functional requirements contained in applicable IMO instruments, not precluding multiple usage of equipment and modules or the need for duplication..

3.TUG Boat Simulator

Provides tug master training on different types of tugs such as:  Voith Schneider (VS), Pusher, River Tow and Azimuth Stern Drive Tugs (ASD).

4. Small Fast Ship Simulator

hj................;

Provides small fast ships up to 60 knots speed.  For training authorities such Coast Guard Patrolling, Search and Rescue and Recreational Fast Boats. The behaviour of High Speed Boats in rough seas depends on two main points:

  • Detailed characterization of sea states and

Accurate response modeling to sea conditions.

5. Vessel Traffic Service Simulator (VTS)

Provides training for operators and supervisors working in vessel traffic service stations and support pillar for the training and it quickly become evident that one of the most important aspects of any new program is the careful scheduling of knowledge elements in conjunction with simulation exercises specifically designed to apply these elements. Traffic model with which realistic sailing behavior and typical maneuvering character is tics of vessel can be created, with the final objective of facilitating the simulation of realistic traffic situations.

6. Fully Equipped 3 Cubical for ARPA Simulator

. ..bb.......monitor....b...

Provide special training for RADAR/ARPA, blind navigation and collision avoidness. Each simulator represents own ship and all could be integrated in one training exercise (scenario).

7. Feedback Classroom (Evaluation Room)

It is a training facility meeting room. It provides visual representations of ship operation and control parameters for review, analysis, discussion and report on trainees performance.

8. Instructor Station Room

The Instructor Station provides the facility to directly control and monitor the simulation exercise, as well as monitor the ship’s bridge and trainees’ performance; it consists of:

    • Instructor Console,
    • Close Circuit TV Color Monitor,
    • Radar Repeater.
    • Intercom Set,
    • Multi channel VHF Radio Telephone,
    • Color Plotting Chart System.
